Federal judge blocks key parts of Arizona immigration law. On a related note, anybody see where the Nazis are coming to town? As Woody Allen said in Manhattan:
Woody Allen: "Has anybody read that Nazis are gonna march in New Jersey? Ya know? I read it in the newspaper. We should go down there, get some guys together, ya know, get some bricks and baseball bats, and really explain things to 'em."

Victor Truro: "There was this devastating satirical piece on that on the op-ed page of the Times – devastating."

Allen: "Whoa, whoa. A satirical piece in the Times is one thing, but bricks and baseball bats really gets right to the point of it."

Helen Hanft: "Oh, but really biting satire is always better than physical force."

Allen: "No, physical force is always better with Nazis."

Here's the video, too!

Seems ol' Woody has changed his stripes over these many years, eh? I truly wonder what he'd say today on the topics of the day...Oliver Stone? Mel Gibson? Ahmedinejad? Nuclear Iran? etc.

Woody was just recently wishing that Obama was dictator instead of President. Obama hates Jews so naturally all the rich Jews support him.

You do know that Woody is playing a character, don't you. Woody isn't saying these things; it's his character who is saying them.

@rachelrachel
So you think he wasn't making a point?

"So you think he wasn't making a point?"

Yes ... his point was about how difficult it is to satirize a guy with shiny boots.

The entire movie is about boots. And the difficulties presented by said boots - when writing biting satire. "Boot Noir" is the genre Woody is exploring here.

Now sandals ... ANYONE can write biting satire about sandals all day long.

Sandals were made to be satirized.

Sandals. Ha!

@rachelrachel Woody Allen was playing a character that he invented, in a script he wrote, in a movie he directed...in which he played the star and protagonist. Maybe there's a little more Allen than fictional character in those lines?

Everyone knows that Woody Allen is nothing at all like the character he has created for the screen.

Yea, but with Nazis, bricks and baseball bats really are best.
